Seventeen years ago, when Kathy and her sweetheart, Mark, decided to
commit to each other in marriage, they wanted a very special
personalized ceremony to celebrate the occasion. Coming from
different spiritual backgrounds, they decided to craft their own
ceremony, weaving threads from each tradition into a beautiful
interfaith tapestry. Springing a surprise wedding (that you can read
about here),
they shared the vows they had written with their immediate
family.
Little did Kathy
know that the experience of creating her own ceremony would inspire
her to help others create their own special day. She followed her
bliss and enrolled in the New Seminary. After two uplifting years of
study, she was ordained an interfaith minister in the
Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City in 2002
and achieved her dream of becoming a
wedding minister.
Rev. Kathy spent
the next eight years in Minnesota, doing what she loved and refining
her skills helping couples blend their traditions into beautiful
ceremonies. You can catch a glimpse of several of those ceremonies
on this website. Kathy and her family relocated to the
beautiful mountains of North Carolina in 2010 and she now officiates weddings in the Asheville area.
Rev. Kathy lives with her husband,
Mark Hoch,
and daughter Ariana in Asheville. When she is not busy officiating weddings on
weekends, she can be found throwing pottery, spending time with her
family, or going to the ocean.
